marine style

A Late Minoan (ca. 1500–1400 BCE) pottery style, in which the surface of a pot was decorated with black slip, contrasting with the buff color of the unslipped clay. A variety of sea creatures, including octopus, fish and dolphins, were represented as if floating against a background of coral, sponges, and/or sea urchins.
