A distinctive style of Minoan pottery characterized by intricate, light-on-dark designs, painted in white, red, orange, and yellow on a black background. It was produced in palace workshops in Crete during the Middle Minoan period, ca. 2000–1700 BCE. Kamares ware was traded across the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean; it has been found as far away as Egypt.
