Hudson River School

A group of American landscape painters that emerged around 1850 under the influence of Thomas Cole (1801-1848).  Artists in the group include Asher Durand, Sanford Robinson Gifford, Albert Bierstadt, Jasper Francis Cropsey, George Innes, and Frederic Edwin Church. Web resource here.
